Greg Walsh, NRP FP-C CCP MICP

DSC_0082-9471-M_2_4   Greg Walsh, the founder and interim chair of CHAMP and a 34 year veteran of all aspects of EMS, began volunteering in the field and at a Level 1 trauma teaching center at the age of 16.

10 years later, Greg started his HEMS career at University of New Mexico’s Lifeguard One program, becoming both the youngest member and the first air rescue paramedic hired directly onto the team.  He subsequently founded and operated 2 CCT programs in NM and WA, including the world’s first paramedic-level IABP transport program, performing 26,000 missions with the highest patient transport survival rate (99.98%) and lowest accident rate (0) in US EMS history.

Greg currently serves as the senior air rescue paramedic aboard N503CF with Santa Fe’s CareFlight 5 training base, the busiest of the company’s 20 HEMS teams.  He has served on numerous boards and regulatory committees and testified before legislators on EMS issues. Greg is also a criminal investigator, defensive violence trainer, expert medical witness, author, and sailor.

“Critical thinking and innovative approaches yield demonstrable safety improvements.  HEMS is clearly overdue for fresh approaches to risk management.  I’d like to serve on CHAMP’s first elected board, and earn your confidence and support.  Please join, vote, and consider serving on CHAMP’s board.”
