Opinion

Colleagues,

This forum is the place to sound off with opinions.  In fact, it’s the only appropriate place  on CHAMP’s site for unsolicited or general comments, thoughts, and ideas.

The P in CHAMP stands for Professionals.  Refrain from personal attacks, locker room language, and political rants.  We are here to make changes in HEMS safety, not complain.

Material posted inappropriately elsewhere on the CHAMP site will be moved here.  And material that is inappropriate for posting here will be removed entirely.

So, that’s what you CAN’T do here.

What you CAN do here is connect with other HEMS safety advocates, learn from each other, inspire and share and teach, and enjoy a safe forum for discussing challenging topics.  Please own your words by signing with your name and role.

Thanks,

Greg Walsh, Interim Chair

  1. “Why ‘Air Rescue?’ I’m a flight medic.” (or nurse, or physician, etc.)

I was a flight medic when I worked fixed wing. Now I work on a helicopter. While the medical mission is similar in part, the aviation mission in HEMS is entirely different, much more collaborative, challenging, and hazardous. That’s why I promote the term “Air Rescue” rather than “Flight,” as a title for HEMS crew members. “Air Rescue” implies rotor wing operation.
