Education

Champions in Safety.  Champions in Care.

HEMS is unsafe because we allow it to be unsafe, by failing to exercise our rights and responsibilities.  When, out of ignorance or cowardice, we fail to learn, decide, report, or act to address safety issues, we become complicit in the future deaths of our colleagues, and perhaps our own. And we disrespect those who died before us,  by failing to learn the lessons they offered, and to embrace the improvements and protections they inspired.

Much of the knowledge needed for rapid and lasting improvement in HEMS safety already exists in a dizzying variety of laws, regulation, and resources in an equally dizzying variety of agencies. This body of knowledge will eventually be posted on this site.  But reading regulations is not fun or easy.

CHAMP is developing a professional accreditation course and exam on the rights and responsibilities of HEMS professionals, with respect to ensuring their own safety, stewarding the safety of their colleagues, and improving the culture and practice of HEMS everywhere.

Keep an eye on this page for developments in early 2014.

Knowledge is Power.  Empower Yourself for Safety.
